Commanded Marine infantry units from platoon to regimental level. Last assignment as Department Head/Professor of Naval Science at Virginia Military Institute. Following retirement from the Marines, worked as an international security consultant in Middle East, Asia and Europe. Married with four children. Currently semi-retired and resides in Lakeland, FL.
Carl Willis- Class of 1975
From Lakeland, FL. Graduate of Lakeland Senior High School. Served 10 years active duty as a Naval Aviator flying the F-14A Tomcat Fighter aircraft. Graduate of Top Gun with two deployments aboard the USS Nimitz CVN-68) and work ups on USS Constellation (CV-64). Worked for American Hospital Supply, Frito-Lay, The Coca-Cola Company, Monster Energy Drinks in various C-Suite roles such as Head of International Sales/Marketing, Managing Director, and President. MBA from Emory University, Atlanta GA. Member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. as well. Carl currently resides in Sarasota, FL with his wife Janice.
Cleveland Cooper-Class of 1975
From Palmetto, FL. A graduate of James Madison High School in Rochester, NY, Cleve served 5 years of active duty as an Anti-Air Warfare Officer in the Marine Corps. He served 1 Fleet Marine Force (FMF) tour with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) at Cherry Point, NC; 1 FMF tour with 1st MAW at Okinawa, Japan and a tour of duty as Assistant Coach, Football at USNA. As a civilian, Cleve worked for IBM, GM and Xerox before taking a position as Immigrations Officer with the Department of Homeland Security. Cleve currently lives in Upper Marlboro, MD with his wife Kim and three children.
Derwood "DC" Curtis, VADM USN (Ret)- Class of 1976
From Chicago, IL. Graduate of Chicago Vocational High School. Served 35 yrs. active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer(SWO). Final assignment was as the Commander of Naval Surface Forces and Commander of the Pacific Fleet’s Naval Surface Force. Ashore he served as a USNA Brigade Officer, Surface Detailer, Military Aide/Executive Assistant to the 71st and 72nd Secretaries of the Navy. Held 7 command positions including Commander Nimitz Strike Group and Commander Naval Surface Forces Atlantic Fleet. Holds an M.S. in Administration from Central Michigan University. Graduated from the National Defense University graduate and the NATO Defense College. Since retirement, he had held various executive positions.
Ed Gilmore-Class of 1976
From Long Branch, NJ. Graduate of Long Branch Senior High School. Served 24 years of active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO). Made 11 Western Pacific Deployments. Had Command in USS Reuben James (FFG-57). Following retirement from USN, spent 15 years a Black Entertainment Television (BET). Currently working for the DC Government.
Stanley Gray-Class of 1977
From USA, Army Service Junior. Graduate of Duval Senior High, Lanham Md. Served 10 years as a Officer of Marines in Artillery, Infantry, Reconnaissance and Ceremonial units until medically discharged due to a service related injury. Worked for Mobil Oil, Phillip Morris, Revlon and X.O. Communications for over 12 years with 7 at the Director or V.P. level. Owned and operated a Human Capital Firm before starting and operating a Real Estate development firm. Retired for 8 years but actively engaged in community education issues.
Arabia Littlejohn, LT USN- Class of 2013
From Steubenville, OH. Holds an all-time record at USNA in 400m dash. Deployed to both Africa and the Mediterranean as one of two women on the USS SIMPSON (FFG 56) as the First Lieutenant and Main Propulsion Officer. Deployed to the Gulf as the Command Training Officer and Legal Officer aboard the USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41). She serves on the executive board for NNOA Camp Pendleton and MENTORCH. She was recently featured in VOGUE magazine for work in black female military hair grooming standards and her community outreach. Arabia is currently stationed in Camp Pendleton, California as the Amphibious Communications Liaison Officer.
